Hanwha Techwin unveils fast, contactless, unmanned checkout solutions for retailers of all sizes

Teaneck, NJ, January 6, 2022 – At NRF 2022 Javits center, NYC Jan 16–18), in booth #5619, Hanwha Techwin, a global supplier of IP and analog video surveillance solutions, will announce a new range of quick checkout (QCO) solutions for retailers of all sizes.

The new QCO product range was developed to mitigate the frustrations that many consumers experience trying to scan barcodes when using self-service checkouts. With the new QCO A5 model, shoppers simply place their purchases on a conveyor belt, and without requiring additional human interaction, the system will automatically scan each item using 360-degree vision-based barcode recognition technology. The more compact QCO S5 model is optimal for convenience stores and other smaller retail outlets.

The new QCO solution reduces the checkout time process by 50%^* and can scan as many as 60 items in just 48 seconds (compared to a minute or more for traditional laser-based solutions). The checkout process is completely contactless and does not require additional readers for mobile payment.

Hanwha’s QCO solutions can be easily integrated with existing POS systems, lowering any additional costs. When combined with Hanwha’s retail business intelligence solutions, store managers can use the data gathered by the QCO solution such as number of store visitors, popular products, and visiting times to establish strategies designed to improve store operations. With a smoother automated checkout process in place, employees and cashiers can be redeployed to other roles to enhance in-store services.
